Brethren Disaster Ministries Updates

The February/March 2016 Shenandoah Journal featured updates on work on several Brethren Disaster Ministries project sites - Luray, Va.; Moyers, W.Va.; New Jersey; Harts, W.Va.; and Colorado, plus information on how to volunteer to work with Brethren Disaster Ministries, how to rent a District vehicle and how to plan an event to assemble kits for Church World Service. All of the stories are linked on this Web site; go to the Shenandoah Journal column under News and Events/Publications.

The current project site is Detroit, Michigan, doing recovery work following a major flood in August 2014. Work consists of framing out walls, hanging furring strips, sheet rock, mudding, painting walls and floors and laying plastic flooring. Housing for volunteers in Detroit is in a monastery, a site found to be very comfortable and safe, according to some who have already volunteered there.
